Main text In the margin it says: Orgnl. with Capitn: Ney over Hamburg Dupl: with Capitn: Carreio Brig Findlay, over Hamburg ---------- Most gracious King! On the current Governor Søbøtker's suggestion I have ordered the country sheriff on St. Jan mr. John Michell to be employed as Commander of the, in the most humble fulfillment of your majesty's utmost command of 14th October last year on St. Jan established Free Corps. Regarding the uniform of this Corps I most humbly recommend, that it must be similar to that of the Free Corps on St. Thomas, except for the Facing, Names and Cuffs which, in order to have some difference, could be carmoisine red. This uniform will have the advantage that it will be easy to change for the individuals of both Corpses who, by changing location, could still continue from one to the other Corps. Since it will be appropriate that this Corps has a set of guiding regulations localized to the Island, I hereby most humbly recommend the current Governor Søbøtker's suggestion in this matter to your Majesty's utmost approval. Copy is enclosed. Most humbly B.

Main text In the margin it says: Orgnl: with Capitn. Ney, over Hamburg Dupl: with Capitn: Carreio Brig Findlay over Hamburg ------ Most gracious King! With a Colombian war brig the rumour has come to St. Thomas that Bolivar is at Maracaibo with 15000 men and that one of the regiments that Paez trusted the most has left him and abducted his secretary Lebol who was his most trusted advisor. It's said that Paez is searching for a ship which can take him and his family to Haiti. Currently there have been placed many orders for provisions and so on at St. Thomas, wherefore the business men there again start raising their heads. Under these circumstances I intend to send your Majesty's brig down to the Continent, partly to get secure news about what is going on, and partly to protect the Danes who may be staying on the coast. Most humbly. B.

Main text In the margin it says: Orgnl: with package Dupl: with Capitn: Careio over Hamburg -------- Most gracious King! Since it seems to have come to real hostility between the generals Paez and Bermudez in Venezuela, I have seen it as my duty to send your Majesty's war brig to the Continent, partly to  give the Danish inhabitants there the protection they may need, partly to get more secure news about what is going on. As no one dares to write and any commandor spreads rumours according to his own interest these are most contradicting. Cumana, Margarita, Carupano, Rio [cannotread], Caiaco, Cumanacoa and Arragua.
