Main text -port in so direct a manner contradicted what had been presented in the interrogation and had not his declaration concerning this report contained so much undeterminable and contradictive content that I am force to view the report as having been made entirely without knowledge of the context of the case or to view the report as not being truthful, and, since incorrect reports from St. Thomas to here might entail great inconveniences to the service and cause even the most false measures to be taken here and,  since, on the other hand, I am not very willing, in the absence of pressing necessity, on my own authority to censure or doubt the commandant, a highly placed civil servant who is close to me, I have considered it most fitting and accretive to order and discipline, most humbly to bring the case to Your Majesty’s attention, and I dare add that captain v. Einem is, besides, a brave officer with whom I have otherwise been very well satisfied.

Main text Most humble declaration upon I. P. Hage’s application.- Among the applications, which during my service have been received for employment by the West Indian troops, there is none which I with so warm a wish have recommended for most graceful granting of prayer. The applicant is a young man of hansom appearance, good habits, and a good head, and has the potential to become a useful and active officer, which we highly need. Accordingly, I have immediately employed him as volunteer at 2nd company.-
