Government-General: Books of letters sent to the King

Description

This archive series contains reports from the Governor General to the king of Denmark, which were dispatched regularly a couple of times each month. The reports vary in length from half a page to several pages. The content deals with local incidents that influenced the political actions of the Governor General and consequently were of interest to his majesty. This could be events in the local administration as well as in that of other colonies in the West Indies. For instance events of military importance or official appointments, but it could also be reflections on what to do with pirates, the rights of the free coloreds, the attendance to sick soldiers or measures in relation to slave insurrection in neighboring colonies.

The transcription of these reports to the king takes a different form than that of for instance the tax records. In this case, we ask for a full text transcription, meaning that the entire text must be transcribed, not just names, places and dates.
